Annual Service of Remembrance

Posted on 20/6/2010

Sunday 13 November 2011 at 3pm

St Theresa's Church, Donore Avenue, Dublin 8

Our Service of Remembrance is a very special occasion and a chance to share an experience with others who have suffered the loss of a child. It is a time to remember and if possible come to terms with our own personal loss.It is also a time to recognise that for a time, however short; we had the privilege of sharing a relationship with our child. This little life had a meaning and it is necessary for us to give attention to this existence. We may not always understand the “why” but for those of us who have been able to move on, I believe that our lives have been enriched by this painful but hugely significant time of our life.

We extend a very warm welcome to you all and would suggest that you make a note of this date inyour diary. Refreshments will be available afterwards in the church to give people the opportunity to have a chat with others attending the service. Our Book of Remembrance will also be available on the day if you wish to make an entry. We hope to see you there.

Greystones Memorial Stone

Posted on 23/10/2011

The Miscarriage Association of Ireland, with the support of the local group community, unveiled a dedicated Memorial Stone in Redford Cemetery in Greystones, immediately before the Cemetery Mass on Sunday, 7th November, 2010.

This is the fifth such stone erected by the Miscarriage Association of Ireland. Other locations include St. Michael’s Cemetery, Athy, Co. Kildare, St. Theresa’s Church, Donore Avenue, Glasnevin and Deangrange cemeteries in Dublin. The memorial stone carries a dedication to all infants who have died before birth.

Said local organiser, Margaret O’Keefe, “This beautiful memorial stone is a significant and fitting addition to our cemetery. So many families have lost babies, often without the comfort of a funeral or a grave. We hope that visitors to the cemetary will stop, read the dedication and reflect awhile.”

Chairperson of the Miscarriage Association of Ireland, June O’Toole added, “We’re delighted to place this memorial stone in Greystones. This is our second stone outside Dublin and we plan to have many more throughout the country. It’s a fitting focal point for grieving parents to have. So often, they do not even have the comfort of a grave to visit and this memorial stone helps them to realise that they are not alone.”
